This Privacy Policy explains how Cubby by Tristonia (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles your information when you use our mobile application.
Last Updated: 12th of October 2026
Cubby has no account and no server of its own. Your collection and your photos live on your device. We never see your plushies, your photos, your notes or what you paid.
Cubby lets you keep your plush and soft toy collection on a wall of cubby holes on your phone. You can scan the barcode on a toy’s tag to look up its name, take your own photo of it, and track details such as its size, when you adopted it and what you paid. It is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
We do not collect any personal data. There is no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising in the app.
The camera is used in two places: while the scanner is open, to read the barcode on a toy’s tag, and when you choose to take a photo of a plush. The scanner’s camera image is processed on your device by Google’s ML Kit barcode scanner and is not saved or sent anywhere.
Photos you take in the app, or pick from your gallery, are cropped and saved in Cubby’s own private storage on your device. They are never uploaded or sent anywhere by Cubby.
When you scan a barcode, Cubby sends that barcode number to UPCitemdb to find the product’s name. UPCitemdb’s privacy policy is here: upcitemdb.com/privacy
Only the barcode number is sent, along with the information any web request carries, such as your IP address. No account, name, photo or other details from the app are included. Cubby does not download any product images: the picture of each plush is always your own photo.
The barcode scanner is Google’s ML Kit, provided through Google Play services and running on your device. ML Kit may send Google basic diagnostic information so Google can keep the scanner working well: device model and Android version, the app’s package name and version, a per-installation identifier that is not meant to identify you, and performance and error figures. It does not send camera images. Google describes this here: developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure
Your plushies, photos, notes, prices, values, shelves and settings are stored on your device. If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include them in your device backup to your own Google account, so your collection comes back on a new phone. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on the device.
If you use “Export” in Settings, Cubby creates a backup file of your collection and photos and saves it wherever you choose. If you use “Import”, Cubby reads the backup file you pick. This only happens when you ask for it, and where the file goes from there is up to you.
We don’t share or sell data, because we don’t collect any. The only things that leave your device are the barcode lookups and the ML Kit diagnostics described above.
Cubby is rated for a general audience (Everyone) and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Cubby is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any toy brand. Product names belong to their owners.
If we update this Privacy Policy, the changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
